    N. Veitchii Pink

Used to grow one. It was a little smaller than yours is when it kicked the bucket. I had read on some forums that it could tolerate highland conditions, so I left it outside during some cooler weather, which it did not appreciate. Nice looking plant you have though.

Nepenthes you don't see every day

Nice. You should post pics of the treubiana pitchers when you get them - I got one last November or December from the same source as you and it has yet to form a mature pitcher.

    How to fertilize a pitcher?

I'd go with whatever the fertilizer instructions say or 1/4 teaspoon of fertilizer diluted in 1 gallon of distilled/deionized/RO/rain water, whichever results in a less concentrated solution. Once you have that stock fertilizer solution, fill the pitchers to around half-full (though I've...

    Nepenthes Ventricosa Good for Beginner?

Ventricosa is definitely a great starter nepenthes. You might be able to grow it outdoors part of the year, depending on how much light will be available outside.

    Osmocote, showing some promising results!

I've fed Neps and Helis with osmocote and dilute orchid fertilizer; can't say whether it helped for the helis but both treatments (on their own, or together) definitely improved growth for my neps

    Nepenthes cuttings pics.

I've had success with LFS/perlite/orchid bark, but I may have to try that perlite method some time. It seems like the cuttings would be easier to separate once rooted as opposed to any LFS-based mix.

    New to Nepenthes

Depending on where you live, you may be able to keep your Neps outside for some parts of the year too. If you want Neps that will do well indoors, hybrids are your best bet, especially those bred for the mass market (Lady luck, ventrata, suki, etc.)

Unknown nepenthes with bulbous red pitchers

Looks like 'Lady luck' to me. It's a hybrid that should be tolerant to a wide variety of conditions. If it's doing well in your current conditions, no need to change anything.

    Heliamphora for first time growers?

As others have said, I'd go with heterodoxa, minor, nutans, or any hybrid between those three.

    Nep lights timing

Temperatures shouldn't be a problem for me. My setup is just T5s and a fan on a grow rack with a plastic cover; the T5s provide enough heat to keep my LL neps happy. I will try switching my light schedule sometime and see how it goes from there. Good to know that it has worked for others.

    Nep lights timing

Anyone have any experience with growing Neps under lights during the nighttime? Electricity prices are cheaper at night so it's more economical to run your grow lights then instead of during the day time. I wanted to run my lights 13 hours on/11 hours off from 8pm-9am or something similar, but I...

    Newbie from Texas!

Welcome to Terraforums! I'm also from the Lone Star State. You can try terrariums if your cat keeps eating plants - that way you can easily access your plants and grow a large variety (as opposed to a jar, where you might be limited to smaller and fewer carnivorous plants).

    Nepenthes lowii

That's quite a generous giveaway. The fact that it survived ultralowland conditions is pretty remarkable, though I heard that some neps can tolerate suboptimal temperatures when they're smaller and not so much when they're larger. Regardless, it'll be a nice plant to whoever wins the giveaway.

    Light for Nepenthes

I read this somewhere online, so it may or may not be true. The lights I'm looking at are T5HO - I forgot that they were high-output. When you say 'limit the heat radiated towards the plants', are you referring to using a reflector/reflective material?

    Light for Nepenthes

It may have been low light or low temperatures or a combination of both. The temperature next to the window was around 60F at the coldest, despite the AC being set higher. Both of my amps perished in those conditions, as did a raff. Bicals might be able to adjust to a windowsill, but if the...
